FAQs

Toughened (tempered) glass is heat-treated to be up to five times stronger than standard annealed glass. If broken, it crumbles into small, blunt granules rather than sharp shards, which makes it a safety glass under AS/NZS 2208. It cannot be cut, drilled, or edged after toughening, so all fabrication must be completed first.

Toughened glass is heat-treated for strength and safe breakage. Laminated glass bonds two or more panes with an interlayer that holds the glass together if it breaks, so it stays in the frame and adds acoustic and UV benefits. Many applications — such as balustrades and overhead glazing — use toughened-laminated glass to combine both.

Pool fencing must use Grade A safety glass — typically 10mm or 12mm toughened glass — to comply with AS 1926.1. Toughened glass is the standard choice for frameless and semi-frameless pool fences: it is up to five times stronger than ordinary glass and breaks into small, blunt fragments. We cut, polish, and drill every panel to size before it is toughened.

Most standard custom orders ship within 3–5 business days of order confirmation. Larger volumes, complex fabrication, and laminated or double-glazed units may take longer. Contact our team for a timeline specific to your project.
