Product Considerations

  • Once toughened, glass cannot be further processed or modified. Complete all cutting, drilling, shaping, edgework and fabrication before toughening.

  • Roller wave and slight optical distortion are inherent characteristics of toughening.

  • Heat soaking is recommended where reducing the risk of spontaneous breakage is a project requirement.

  • For applications requiring post-breakage integrity, laminated safety glass may be more suitable.

FAQs

Annealed glass is heated uniformly and rapidly cooled. This increases its strength and resistance to impact and thermal stress.

No. All cutting, drilling, shaping and edgework must be completed before toughening.

It shatters into small, blunt-edged fragments, reducing the risk of serious injury compared with standard annealed glass.

Heat soaking is recommended where reducing the risk of spontaneous breakage is a project requirement.
