Insulated
Glass

ToughEco™ insulated glass units are custom manufactured in Perth to improve thermal insulation, energy efficiency, acoustic comfort and condensation control — from standard double glazing to advanced double-silver Low-E performance.

Insulated glass, manufactured to your requirements

An insulated glass unit (IGU) seals two or more panes around a spacer and insulating cavity. The combination of glass, spacer, gas fill and secondary sealant reduces heat transfer, controls condensation and can improve acoustic performance. Every ToughEco™ unit is custom built in Perth. Our team can combine Clear, Tinted, Decorative, ToughGuard™, ToughSound™, ToughSwitch™ and KeneticPlus glass to meet the thermal, acoustic, safety and aesthetic requirements of the project.

Why Choose
ToughEco™

Better Thermal Insulation

The sealed cavity and selected Low-E glass reduce heat transfer, helping interiors stay warmer in winter and cooler in summer.

Reduced Condensation

Warm-edge spacers and improved insulation help reduce the cold internal glass surfaces that contribute to condensation.

Our ToughEco™ Range

Our entry-level insulated glass unit uses standard glass without Low-E coatings. It provides better thermal performance than single glazing at an economical price point, with double or triple glazing, optional Argon gas, and TPS, Super Spacer® or Aluminium spacer options.

ToughEco™ Tech incorporates KeneticPlus hard-coat Low-E glass for improved thermal insulation and reduced heat transfer while maintaining durability and processing flexibility. A range of KeneticPlus performance options is available.

ToughEco™ Plus uses premium single-silver soft-coat Low-E glass for enhanced thermal performance, high visible light transmission, better energy efficiency and improved occupant comfort.

Our highest-performing IGU uses advanced double-silver soft-coat Low-E glass for exceptional insulation and solar control. Clear and Neutral performance options are available.

IGU Components

Glass selection determines much of the unit's thermal, solar, acoustic, safety and visual performance. ToughEco™ can use Clear, Tinted, Decorative, ToughGuard™, ToughSound™, ToughSwitch™ and KeneticPlus Glass.

TPS is our standard warm-edge spacer. It provides excellent thermal performance, durability and energy efficiency while forming a continuous seal around the glass.

Super Spacer® is a flexible warm-edge system that improves edge insulation and helps reduce condensation. Aluminium provides a traditional spacer option where a conventional system is preferred.

The cavity can use air or Argon. Argon provides better thermal insulation than air and can improve the overall energy efficiency of the unit, particularly when combined with Low-E glass.

Polysulphide is the standard durable secondary seal. Hot Melt suits fast-curing applications, while Silicone provides strong UV resistance, weatherability and structural-glazing performance.

Performance Definitions

The percentage of visible light transmitted through the glass. A higher value means more daylight enters the building.

The percentage of visible light reflected from the glass surface.

The proportion of solar heat that passes through the glazing. Lower values provide stronger solar control.

The rate of heat transfer through the glazing. Lower U-Values indicate better thermal insulation.

Acoustic Performance

Insulated glass can substantially improve acoustic performance over single glazing. Further gains are possible by using different pane thicknesses, increasing the cavity width or adding ToughSound™ acoustic laminated glass. Typical Rw ratings: 6mm Clear Float Glass — 31; 6mm + 12mm spacer + 6mm — 34; 10mm + 12mm spacer + 6mm — 36; 6mm + 12mm spacer + 6.5mm ToughSound™ — 38. Rw is the Weighted Sound Reduction Index. A higher Rw rating indicates greater resistance to airborne sound transmission.

Product Considerations

Overall performance depends on the glass build-up, spacer, gas fill, framing system, installation and the proportion of glazing within the building envelope.

Different Low-E coatings, pane thicknesses and laminated products change thermal, solar, acoustic, safety and visual performance. Performance data is available for ToughEco™ configurations.

Different pane thicknesses help prevent both panes resonating at the same frequency. Wider cavities and ToughSound™ can provide further acoustic improvement.

Spacer material and cavity width influence edge heat transfer, condensation resistance and overall thermal and acoustic performance.

Argon gas is available to reduce heat transfer through the cavity and is especially effective when combined with Low-E glass.

ToughEco™ units are made to order. Standard and oversized limits depend on spacer, sealant, glass construction, handling and project engineering.

Frequently Asked Questions

An insulated glass unit is the technical name for double glazing. It uses two or more panes separated by a sealed spacer and insulating cavity to improve thermal and acoustic performance.

Every ToughEco™ unit is custom manufactured in Perth. Four performance levels, multiple Low-E coatings, laminated and decorative glass, spacer choices and gas fills allow the unit to be tailored to the project.

Yes. Glass types, pane thicknesses, spacers, cavity widths, gas fill and sealants can be selected to suit the required thermal, acoustic, safety and aesthetic performance.

Argon is an inert gas that insulates better than air. Within the sealed cavity it reduces heat transfer and can improve the window's overall energy efficiency.

A warm-edge spacer uses less conductive materials than traditional aluminium, reducing heat transfer around the edge of the unit and helping improve thermal performance and condensation resistance.

Lite is standard glazing without Low-E; Tech uses KeneticPlus hard-coat Low-E; Plus uses single-silver soft-coat Low-E; Platinum uses double-silver soft-coat Low-E for the highest thermal and solar performance.

Yes. Cavity width influences both thermal and acoustic performance. Our team can recommend a suitable width for the selected glass and project target.

Yes. A suitable ToughEco™ configuration can contribute to the required building performance, but the result also depends on orientation, window area, frame, shading, insulation and the complete building design.
