ToughECO™ Platinum: Premium Low-E Insulated Glass for High-Performance Buildings
Modern building design demands more from glazing than ever before. As window and façade systems become larger and energy requirements more stringent, selecting the right insulated glass unit (IGU) is critical to achieving thermal comfort, managing solar heat gain, and supporting compliance outcomes.
By Tough Glass
ToughECO™ Platinum is Tough Glass' premium Low-E insulated glass range, engineered for projects where standard glazing solutions may not deliver the required level of performance.
Advanced Performance Through Double-Silver Low-E Technology
At the heart of the ToughECO™ Platinum range is a soft-coat, double-silver Low-E coating combined with an argon-filled insulated glass unit.
This advanced glazing system is designed to:
- Reduce solar heat gain
- Improve thermal insulation
- Enhance occupant comfort
- Lower cooling demands
- Support energy-efficient building design
The range is available in two performance options, allowing specifiers to balance daylight transmission with solar control requirements.
Platinum 76: High Performance with a Clear Appearance
Platinum 76 is designed for projects seeking enhanced solar control while maintaining a clear appearance and strong daylight transmission.
Key performance attributes include:
- Clear appearance
- Visible Light Transmittance (VLT) up to 69%
- Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) as low as 0.33
- U-Value from 1.33
- Approximately 27% greater solar control than ToughECO™ Plus
Platinum 76 is well suited to residential and commercial projects where daylight, views, and thermal performance need to work together.
Platinum 52: Maximum Solar Control
For projects where limiting solar heat gain is the priority, Platinum 52 offers the strongest solar control within the ToughECO™ range.
Key performance attributes include:
- Neutral appearance
- Visible Light Transmittance (VLT) up to 49%
- Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) as low as 0.23
- Approximately 54% greater solar control than ToughECO™ Plus
This configuration is particularly effective for large glazed areas, sun-exposed elevations, and projects targeting higher energy performance outcomes.
Configuration Options
ToughECO™ Platinum can be supplied with:
- Thermoplastic (TPS), Super Spacer, or Aluminium spacer systems
- Argon gas fill
- Triple glazed configurations
- Laminated and acoustic glass combinations
- Translucent glazing options
- Stepped and shaped units, including arches, raked, and gable designs
